Our Community Mission – The Story Foundation

At The Story Foundation, we believe that reading is fundamental to every part of a child’s development, and that every child should have access to books, storytelling, and creative learning opportunities.

Our purpose is to widen access to the experiences offered through Storybook Studios. Through fundraising and community support, we provide free and subsidised places across our classes, workshops, and events, ensuring that more children can take part, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Reading and storytelling are powerful tools. They build confidence, language skills, and imagination, opening the door to a lifetime of learning and enjoyment.

We work to inspire a love of stories by creating engaging, inclusive, and joyful experiences that bring books to life. By removing barriers to participation, we support children in building confidence with reading in a way that feels accessible and meaningful.

Alongside our classes, we are developing a programme of community-focused events designed to bring families together through storytelling. These include relaxed, creative experiences such as family picnic days with storytelling activities and opportunities for children to explore stories in a fun and welcoming environment. As we grow, we hope to expand these events to include free book giveaways, helping more children build their own home libraries.

Through everything we do, our focus remains the same: making stories accessible, inspiring a love of reading, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience the magic of books.
